This day was appointed
by the Great Spirit for us to see one another. It makes my heart as glad
to enter your house as it does when I enter my own home.

Many
people wonder how A.A. can function under seeming anarchy. Other societies have
to have law and force and sanction and punishment, administered by authorized
people. Happily for us, we found that we need no human authority whatever. We
have two authorities which are far more effective. One is benign, the other
malign.
There
is God, our Father, who very simply says, "I am waiting for you to do my
will." The other authority is John Barleycorn, and he says, "You had
better do God's will or I will kill you."

Yes,
there is a substitute and it is vastly more than that. It is a fellowship in
Alcoholics Anonymous. There you will find release from care, boredom and worry.
Your imagination will be fired. Life will mean something at last. The most satisfactory
years of your existence lie ahead. Thus we find the fellowship, and so will
you.
