I started going to
sweats. I started burning sweet grass and I started believing...I think
spiritual now. As I go through the day I try to be a spiritual person. I don't
make decisions based on selfishness and self-will. It's a bit of AA philosophy
and Indian philosophy.

with alcoholic destruction, we soon became as open minded on spiritual
matters as we had tried to be on other questions. In this respect alcohol
was a great persuader. It finally beat us into a state of reasonableness.

Perhaps
there is a better way--we think so. For we are now on a different basis; the
basis of trusting and relying on God. We trust infinite God rather than our
finite selves. We are in the world to play the role He assigns us. Just to the
extent that we do as we think He would have us, and humbly rely on Him, does He
enable us to match calamity with serenity.
