People believe that each tribe had its own special relationship to
the superior forces which govern the universe and that the job of each set
of tribal beliefs was to fulfill its own tasks without worrying about what
others were doing. Vine Deloria Jr. Lakota Perhaps there is a better way--we think so. For we are now on a
different basis; the basis of trusting and relying upon God. We trust
infinite God rather than our finite selves. We are in the world to play
the role He assigns. Just to the extent that we do as we think He would
have us, and humbly rely on Him, does He enable us to match calamity with
serenity. Big Book pg. 68 It
is easy to let up on the spiritual program of action and rest on our
laurels. We are headed for trouble if we do, for alcohol is a subtle foe.
We are not cured of alcoholism. What we have is a daily reprieve
contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition. Every day is a
day when we must carry the vision of God's will into all of our
activities. "How can I best serve Thee--Thy will (not mine) be done."
These are thoughts which must go with us constantly. We can exercise our
will power along this line all we wish. It is the proper use of the
will. Big Book pg. 85 Creator keep our feet walking the road you gave us.
