Hunkpapa Sioux Now, what of prayer? Prayer is the raising of the heart and mind to
God--and in this sense it includes meditation. How may we go about it? And
how does it fit in with meditation? Prayer, as commonly understood, is a
petition to God. Having opened our channel as best we can, we try to ask
for those right things of which we and others are in the greatest need.

Twelve Traditions pg. 102 We
found that God does not make too hard terms with those who seek Him. To
us, the Realm of Spirit is broad, roomy, all inclusive; never exclusive or
forbidding to those who earnestly seek. It is open, we believe, to all
men. Big Book pg. 46 Great Spirit, I know you sit above me. May I raise my heart and spirit to you today. Hear me Grandfather as I pray to you that I may walk your path here.
